SMC Networks and Rorke Data have teamed up to deploy a 10Gb networked storage system for Sample Digital, which provides media encoding services to the film and technology industries.
The new network attached storage (NAS) system is reducing production time and increasing accuracy, allowing Sample Digital to optimize turnaround and profitability.
Sample Digital still receives its content primarily on tape and feeds it into its encoding systems for processing, as before, but the encoding systems now store the pre- and post-processed content on a Rorke Data Galaxy LX Linux-powered 30TB NAS system that's networked via SMC Networks' TigetSwitch SMC8708L2 Standalone Eight-Port 10Gb Managed L2 Ethernet Switch. For additional data security, the system also incorporates a Rorke Data Galaxy HDX 10TB RAID6 storage system.
