Blue Box QUAD 3G sends four 3G signals over fiber

Bluebell has released Blue Box Quad 3G, a four-channel multiplexer/demultiplexer system that makes 3G-SDI-to-fiber conversion over standard fiber-optic cables possible.

The Blue Box QUAD 3G provides a compact conversion unit that allows the outputs from up to four cameras to be transmitted over a single, standard SMPTE hybrid or military tactical cable. Applications have already been found in many OB vehicles, special event companies and in prewired venues, particularly with the advent of 3-D and the move to a 3G infrastructure.

The four-channel configuration allows two separate 3-D camera signals to be transported over one cable link. Each signal within the fiber has a different optical wavelength, enabling interference-free transmission over longer distances.

The system is available in different configurations, and it can be supplied with customer-specific connectors. Each interface is contained within a robust, rugged aluminum enclosure suited to the demands of constant rigging/derigging.
