Brazil-based systems integrator Brasvideo is making the country’s second-largest national television network Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão (SBT) look good. SBT was the recipient of the 2006 Broadcast Engineering Excellence Award for best “Newsroom Technology.”
On behalf of SBT, Brasvideo selected the Leitch NEXIO NewsNet newsroom system with the goal of building a facility that would facilitate the integration of content acquisition, contribution and newsroom technologies; create an end-to-end digital infrastructure; and provide journalists and operators with a wide gamut of tools for their workflow requirements (from ingest through playout). SBT is now the largest Leitch newsroom system in Brazil.
This is the fifth annual Broadcast Engineering Excellence Awards competition. Nominees for the awards were announced in the December 2005 Digital Reference Guide, and winners were selected based on votes from the publication’s readers. Winning facilities are featured in the March issue of Broadcast Engineering, and award plaques will be presented at NAB in Las Vegas April 22-27, 2006.
