Fox selects OmniTek for laboratory work

Test and measurement manufacturer, OmniTek, announced that Fox Digital Television Laboratory has purchased and installed OmniTek's OmniGen test and measurement solution. OmniGen is an advanced, PC-based multi-format test signal generator that supports all HD and SD formats. The deal was concluded and overseen by OmniTek's U.S. dealer MPro.

Fox's DTV Laboratory, part of the major U.S. Broadcaster’s New Technology Group, examines new technology solutions in detail prior to deciding how useful they are and whether they should be recommended for deployment by the broadcaster. This process can involve detailed specifications checks and always requires a high level of accuracy.

Jim DeFilippis, VP of television engineering with the New Technology Group explained that Fox needed to upgrade its legacy equipment to conduct these key tasks more quickly and efficiently and as part of that upgrade required the ability to define its own test signals.
