The Carolina Hurricanes have invested in a Ross Video Vision 3 QMD multidefinition production switcher.

Vision went on-air Sept. 3 at the RBC Center in Raleigh, NC, to broadcast the North Carolina State Wolfpack football season opener against South Carolina. The switcher will also be used to air the Carolina Hurricanes Hockey, NC State basketball and other RBC Center events.

“We needed a switcher that was intuitive and powerful yet affordable, and Ross offered us a solution with Vision,” said Pete Soto, director of advertising, production and in-game marketing for the Carolina Panthers Hockey Club. “The Ross Vision is a truly all-encompassing, multilayer switcher that makes live production seem easy.”

The Vision QMD/X provides four keys per M/E and up to 4M/Es, available in both a small and large chassis. The small chassis, QMD, is a compact 3RU, offering four full four-keyer M/Es and 48 multidefinition inputs. The large chassis, QMD-X, offers four full four-keyer M/Es, six keys downstream and 96 multidefinition inputs.
