Clarity Visual Systems has signed a contract with InFocus to manufacture InFocus’ TD-61 product. The 61-inch displays will be part of the ultra-thin, rear-projection category, which the companies are pioneering to reach new markets and customers.
The agreement underscores the relationship between the two companies announced in March 2004 that Clarity would build a new generation of co-branded displays based on the InFocus engine, which integrates proprietary, patent-pending engine and screen technology with a micro-display device currently using Texas Instruments' DLP technology. The InFocus engine that Clarity will use is also the foundation for the InFocus ScreenPlay micro-display television introduced by InFocus in early 2004.
In addition to designing and manufacturing the rear-projection display system for InFocus, Clarity will design and build its own branded ultra-thin rear-projection system, Bengal, using the InFocus light engine.
Bengal is a 61-inch, rear-projection display, only 6.5-inches deep, designed to meet the needs of Clarity's digital-signage and retail customers.
The displays carrying both brands are expected to begin shipping in the latter half of 2004.
