French public service station upgrades master control room

The French public service radio broadcaster Radio France has embarked on its new Master Control Room project, which will act as a veritable nerve center for Radio France’s operations.

The station is using an IP-based redundant control system from NETIA to control all internal audio flows — from one studio to another and for mixing between studios — from multiple workstations simultaneously. All master control activities involving the router are also controlled by custom software from NETIA. The system operates continually, on a 24/7 basis, in a redundant configuration to ensure the security of radio broadcasts.

NETIA derived this tool from its Manreo range of content management software, and it is intended for the Lawo Nova73 audio routing matrix. The resulting system streamlines the routing process by giving facility personnel an instant overview of all routing possibilities through a single software interface.
