New extension cable from Opticis enhances indoor and outdoor signage applications

Opticis is now shipping its upgraded full-fiber extension cable for digital visual interface (DVI) displays. The new M1-1000 Express has a maximum single-link DVI performance of 165 megapixels/second and improved metal enclosures for the cable ends.

The emerging breed of large format personal computer display technologies use LCD and PDP panels that incorporate a DVI interface supporting single-link core frequencies up to wide UXGA at 60Hz refresh. Although the end-connectors appear similar to those of copper DVI cables, they are embedded with active opto-electronic components that interface to glass fibers enclosed in the protective cable sheath. The Express implements the DVI protocol's display data channel command interface with glass optical fibers, providing a copper-free link.
