Samsung launches 82in LCD panel with LED backlight

Samsung unveiled an 82in LCD TV with an LED backlight at the 2006 CES convention in Las Vegas. The LN-S8297DE offers a 7000:1 contrast ratio, does not require a cooling fan and is mercury-free.

The display supports full HD (1920 x 1080p) with an 8ms response time, has a built-in HDMI, and reproduces 6.1 channel sound and Dolby digital.
