Call for papers for SCTE Conference on Emerging Technologies 2007

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) has announced that it is seeking proposals for technical papers to be presented at the SCTE Conference on Emerging Technologies (ET) 2007 set for Jan. 23-25, 2007, in Houston, TX.
Held annually, ET explores advancing technologies most likely to impact the cable telecommunications industry in the next three to five years. The ET 2007 program subcommittee, chaired by Ray Sokola, CTO for Motorola, will review all technical proposals. The theme for the 2007 conference is “My Network! My Services! No Boundaries!”
The subcommittee will consider proposals addressing these key concerns:
- How will MSOs offer television services that tie into personal streaming on the Internet?
- How will geographical limitations impact personal video on cable?
- What provisions need to be made for securing consumer personal data?
- What techniques could be used to deliver targeted ad content (e.g., unicasting, STB-based switching when an ad arrives)?
- What models could emerge for making television advertising more interactive?
- Maintain business models while still protecting digital rights?
