Sharp unveils flat panel TV assortment at CES

Sharp previewed a number of new technologies and its broadest line of flat-panel TVs at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show. A highlight of the company’s booth was the 65in AQUOS, a high-definition liquid crystal display. Sharp said AQUOS is 30 percent larger than the previous record holder. In addition to the AQUOS liquid crystal TV lineup, Sharp also previewed high-definition rear projection televisions.

The company added a second production line in August to its factory in Kameyama, Japan, resulting in a near doubling of the plant's output since opening last January.

Sharp is also further broadening its television line with the debut of high-definition rear projection TVs that feature Texas Instruments DLP micro-display technology.
