Sim Video, a video equipment rental company headquartered in Toronto, recently purchased Fujinon PL Series 18mm-85mm/T2.0 and 75mm-400mm/T2.8-T3.8 zoom lenses for use on the pilot for “Men with Brooms.”
Rudolf Blahacek, director of photography, used the Fujinon 18mm-85mm/T2.0 lens from Sim Video in combination with Zeiss Master Prime lenses. “The stop [2.0] allowed me to use the one lens 80 percent of the time on the ‘A’ camera,” Blahacek said. “Contrast ratio was similar to the Master Primes, and the color was similar with the zoom and the primes.”
Designed for the latest digital and film PL mount cameras, the 18mm-85mm/T2.0 and 75mm-400mm/T2.8-T3.8 are the first models from Fujinon's new PL Series of zoom lenses. Two additional models, offering focal ranges of 14.4mm-45mm/T2.0 and 24mm-180mm/T2.6, will be available in early 2010.
The PL Series features fast T speeds and high color-matched 4K optical performance. All four zooms are similar in size and weight, and uniform gear placement and front-barrel diameters enable quick, efficient lens changes.
