The Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) has purchased six Ikegami HDK-79EXIII HD cameras for its new production studio, an 1800s-era 200-seat theater in Manhattan’s Union Square. Each of the EFP/ENG cameras are configured with studio accessories on tripods and outfitted with a Canon image stabilized HD lens.

TBN NY produces a variety of religious programs, such as its flagship “Praise the Lord” series. With only a 20ft by 25ft stage and minimal room to maneuver, TBN needed to make the most of every inch of studio space. The Ikegami cameras’ compact size provided the ideal choice.

Offering 14-bit A/D conversion and up to 38-bit internal processing, the HDK-79EXIII features three 2/3in 2,300,000-pixel 1080i AIT CCD image sensors that provide a horizontal resolution of 1000 lines and a S/N ratio of 60dB at f 10.

The camera leverages the same sensor block and identical video path as the company’s HDK-790EXIII full-digital HDTV studio camera. Using the downconverter built into the Ikegami CCU-790A camera control unit, the 79EXIII can be also operated as a high-end SD studio camera. Both HD video and SD are provided simultaneously from the CCU-790A in both digital and analog form.

Other features of the camera include automatic set-up, extensive filing capability, online diagnostics, and a low center of gravity for use in the studio or the field. Both cameras are available with a wide array of new HDTV system accessories.
