Watertown Community Access Center (WCAC), one of the largest public access facilities in the nation, recently built a mobile production vehicle based on Broadcast Pix’s Slate 100 production system. The system was purchased to produce live community events, such as town meetings and local high school sports competitions, in the Watertown, MA, area.
The Slate 100 is a switcher with an integrated multiview monitor, graphics system, and optional clip store and camera control. An HDTV update will soon be available. The switcher allows a single user to operate all the key functions in a multicamera production. WCAC said the integrated system allows it to produce more programs with less staff.
The system mixes up to eight live inputs with up to two clips and five channels of graphics from its single-seat workstation. The live inputs support both timed and asynchronous inputs for a wide range of cameras, videotape recorders, DVD players and other devices.
