German household IPTV uptake to remain slow, says report

Despite wide adoption of broadband connectivity on the part of most Germans, a new report from the Centre for Telecoms Research foresees slow uptake of IPTV services because of the extent of free DTT TV services.
The report, "German Internet Services Market," estimated the value of the German Internet services market to be $6 billion at the end of 2006. It reached 53 percent of all households in Germany. By 2010, 73 percent of all German households with PCs will have broadband access.
However, free digital terrestrial television service will slow the adoption of IPTV services among German households, it said.
The report is being marketed by Research and Markets.
