HanseNet adds Pro-MPEG FEC

HanseNet Telekommunikation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Telecom Italia, has implemented Harmonic’s ProStream 1000 stream processing capability for forward error correction (FEC) for the more than 100 digital TV channels delivered as part of HanseNet’s Alice IPTV service in Germany.

By leveraging the versatile ProStream 1000 platform, already deployed at HanseNet with Harmonic’s ProCipher scrambling technology, HanseNet was able to efficiently add Pro-MPEG FEC without investing in new hardware.

Move Networks buys Inuk Networks

Internet TV service provider Move Networks has acquired U.K. triple-play service provider Inuk Networks.

By adding Inuk’s IPTV platform and virtual set-top box solution for PCs and Macs to its video publishing system and adaptive streaming technologies, Move Networks is able to deliver service providers, broadcasters and consumers a true TV experience over the open Internet and closed networks, using a mix of both multicast and rate adaptive video delivery.

NXP Semiconductors to add support for Adobe Flash Platform

NXP Semiconductors has announced support for the Adobe Flash Platform for the Digital Home. The optimized implementation of Flash technology for Internet connected televisions, set-top boxes (STB), Blu-ray players and other devices in the digital living room is expected to be supported on NXP’s IP set top box platforms, the STB225 and STB222.

Sigma Designs media processor to power Celrun STB

Sigma Designs said last week that its SMP8654 media processors will be used to power Celrun’s TD-1100 set-top box (STB), which has been selected by telecom provider LG Dacom to be deployed throughout South Korea.

As part of this collaboration, Sigma’s chips have been integrated into Celrun’s TD-1100 set-top box and will support real-time IPTV streaming along with video-on-demand (VOD) services.

Nebraska telecom chooses Clearfield FieldSmart Platform

Clarks Telecommunications has selected the FieldSmart Platform of Fiber Management from Clearfield for its Fiber to the Home (FTTH) deployment. The subsidiary of Northeast Nebraska Telephone Company serves three exchanges in central Nebraska.

Clearfield’s FieldSmart Fiber Distribution System (FDS) was installed in three central offices in Clarks, Staplehurst and Ulysses, NE. Clearfield’s FieldSmart FDS components, including patch only panels, frames, interbay management and cross-over troughs, were used, along with active gear troughs and fiber jumpers.
