News Digital Media chooses Telestream for video transcoding
Australia’s News Digital Media has adopted Telestream’s FlipFactory workflow automation software to fulfill its video transcoding requirements. News Digital Media is one of Australia’s largest online networks, providing news, sports and weather sites with international, national and local perspectives. 

News Digital Media will install eight FlipFactory transcoding engines in the initial phase of the content management project, with others to be installed later.

Amino achieves 2 million STB milestone
Amino Communications in December reached the 2 million mark for sales of its AmiNET set-top box (STB), the company said last week.

Since launching its first product in 2002, Amino has developed a range of STBs to meet global demand for IPTV from network operators, hospitality and enterprise markets.

UK school authority chooses Video Furnace for IP video distribution
Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, a UK educational authority in South Yorkshire, is installing an IP video distribution system developed by enterprise-class IP video solutions provider Video Furnace.

The educational authority wants a video distribution solution to complement its new virtual learning environment (VLE), a central repository of digital learning materials that can be accessed by administrators, teachers and students.

Ericsson to deploy metro aggregation network for Chunghwa Telecom
Taiwan's largest telecom operator, Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), has chosen Ericsson to deploy a metro aggregation network supporting high-capacity broadband services, such as IPTV and e-health, for both fixed and mobile access.

Chunghwa will rely on Ericsson's Marconi Optical Multi-Service (OMS) solution, which improves capacity and network efficiency, eliminating bottlenecks and improving the quality and reliability of bandwidth-intensive services such as IPTV.

Alcatel-Lucent chooses NetLogic Microsystems processor
Alcatel-Lucent has selected the NetLogic Microsystems NL71024XT processor for its Terabit IP service router portfolio.

The Terabit upgrades to the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router and 7450 Ethernet Service Switch deliver the performance, scale and service awareness required to support the broadband offerings such as IPTV, WebTV, virtual private networks (VPN) and 3G/4G mobile services.
