Orca Interactive, BCC Company partner on IPTV solution for Russia

Orca Interactive and Russian systems integrator BCC Company have joined forces to deliver a wholesale IPTV solution across Russia.

The customizable solution has been deployed by Russian regional incumbent operators North-West Telecom, Siberia Telecom and Southern Telecommunications Company. Orca and BCC plan to continue marketing the new offering throughout Russia.

Scopus Video Networks calls off negotiations to acquire Optibase

Scopus Video Networks informed Optibase in a letter received Nov. 6 that it is terminating negotiations to acquire Optibase's digital video and streaming business.

SeaChange International, Argela form partnership

SeaChange International has partnered with Turkey-based Argela to provide a combined product offering that will enable telco network operators to offer telephony, messaging, Internet access, mobility services, VOD and personal video recording services that integrate seamlessly with their service delivery platforms (SDP).

Turk Telecom is the first customer to grow out of the partnership. SeaChange is providing systems integration and professional services.

Surry Telephone deploys triple-play service with help from Allied Telesis

Surry Telephone in Dobson, NC, is deploying the Allied Telesis iMAP (integrated Multiservice Access Platform) and iMG (integrated Multiservice Gateway) for triple-play IPTV service.

Dual 10Gig Core rings are the backbone of the network, connecting Allied Telesis Layer 3 switches to the iMAP. The 40-node iMAP network is interconnected via its own 10Gig 50ms self-healing ring.

Subscribers are connected to the network via iMG624s for DSL and iMG600 MODs for fiber. The entire solution, including the GenBand G6 VoIP gateway, is managed and provisioned by Allied Telesis Network Management System (NMS.)

John Shoemaker joins Astute Networks board

John Shoemaker has been appointed to the Astute Networks board of directors.

Shoemaker has more than three decades of experience in the high-technology industry. From 1990 to 2004, he held various executive management positions at Sun Microsystems and served most recently as executive vice president, computer systems until his retirement.

Daewoo licenses ANT Galio Browser

Daewoo Electronics has signed a contract with digital TV solutions provider ANT to license ANT Galio Browser for its new range of IPTV set-top boxes.

The new DIS – E100 model, based on the Sigma Designs chipset, enables delivery of full HD-quality videos in a compact design.
