RipCode appoints Lowitz executive VP
Mobile video and Internet infrastructure solutions provider RipCode has appointed Greg Lowitz as executive VP of sales and business development.
Lowitz will lead the company’s efforts to expand its global sales channels and strategic business partnerships while accelerating the adoption of RipCode’s next-generation video delivery appliances and value-added applications.
Witbe announces audience measurement shortlisted for honor
Witbe has made the short list of companies being considered for recognition in the IPTV World Series Awards 2009 in the category of “Most Innovative New Service,” the company said last week.
The category recognizes a service launched by an operator or a service provider in 2008, and delivered over a managed network, that has made a significant contribution to service revenues and customer satisfaction. Witbe’s next-generation TV audience measurement solution is being considered for the honor.
Aksh Optifibre chooses Envivio encoder for three-screen TV service
Indian IPTV pioneer and telecom service provider Aksh Optifibre has selected the Envivio 4Caster C4 convergence encoder to upgrade and expand its video offerings to deliver services to three screens.
The Envivio three screens encoding platform will enable Aksh to upgrade its existing IPTV service and add a new Internet TV offering. The initial mobile TV service from Aksh leverages India’s state-run MTNL network to offer subscribers popular entertainment channels from the Aksh IPTV service, including Doordarshan, Neo Sports, CNN and NDTV.
NRTC, NTCA boost HD channel offering
The National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) over the past few weeks has more than doubled its HD offering and created programming packages that enable rural telcos to derive incremental revenue.
According to the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association and the NRTC, the move gives rural telcos the opportunity to deliver more than 80 channels of HD programming.
UTS deploys enhanced wireless cable services with RGB Networks processor
United Telecommunication Services (UTS), the parent company of TDS, the wireless cable service provider servicing the Dutch islands of Curaçao and Bonaire, has deployed RGB’s Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) as part of its next-generation video delivery network deployment.
UTS has migrated its TDS system to a fully digital, IP-based platform. RGB’s BNP, offering high-density grooming, statistical multiplexing and transrating, enables UTS to offer subscribers new services, including more HD channels.| Want to use this article? Click here for options! |  |
