HomePNA 3.1 chipsets ship, reaching 5 million

             

Five million HomePNA 3.1 chipsets have now shipped, up from 2 million less than six months ago, according to a statement last week from HomePNA. According to HomePNA, the shipments demonstrate high demand for HomePNA multimedia home networking devices in IPTV service deployments.

Sun Microsystems inks deal with On2
Sun Microsystems said last week it entered into a multiyear agreement with On2 Technologies to use On2's TrueMotion video codecs for Sun's JavaFX, a family of products for creating Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) with immersive media and content.

SeaChange, AirTies partner on in-home wireless video, data services

SeaChange International announced last week a partnership with AirTies, an international developer of wireless networking and broadband Internet access solutions.

SeaChange and AirTies are partnering to deliver next-generation in-home wireless distribution of high-quality video and data services. The resulting solutions will expedite the deployment of advanced IPTV services by eliminating truck rolls.

NXP to acquire Conexant’s STB operations

NXP Semiconductors, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, will acquire the Broadband Media Processing (BMP) business of Conexant Systems, the company said last week.

With this transaction, NXP’s existing STB and digital TV operations will be combined with Conexant’s BMP business.

Calix FTTP solutions make mark in Texas
Calix fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) solutions, including the Calix 700 family of GPON Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), are now deployed across Texas, with two-thirds of the FTTP deployments in the state relying on the company’s access gear, Calix said last week.

From the suburban landscape outside San Antonio, to the rural prairies of the Texas Panhandle, Texas service providers are using the company’s FTTP solutions.
