Yankee Group report identifies ROI of holistic IP security solution
Oct 23, 2007 8:26 AM
A new Yankee Group report evaluating the return on investment (ROI) of core IP security solutions in the carrier environment has found that when a carrier deploys an IP security solution in support of IPTV service and a managed clean pipes offering, it can expect an internal rate of return of up to 125 percent.
The report, done for carrier class security specialist Narus, is based on interviews with several Tier 1 operators. It examines the market drivers forcing the increased adoption of holistic IP security solutions, including the enhanced complexity and rate of attacks and growing bandwidth requirements.
It also evaluates the long-term cost savings, both in cash and brand protection, of implementing a core IP security solution with the ability to detect and analyze complex security threats to the carrier network.
According to Brian Partridge, program manager at Yankee Group and author of the report, carriers anticipate the volume and severity of attacks to increase over the next three years.
