Microsoft Mediaroom platform

The Microsoft Mediaroom platform manages all aspects of TV service delivery, from the point of acquisition through to the viewing of programming by consumers.

Wind, an Italian integrated communication services operator offering fixed-mobile-Internet, has selected the Microsoft Mediaroom platform and Alcatel-Lucent’s triple-play solutions to deliver its commercial IPTV offering, Infostrada TV, to its customers across Italy. The service launched earlier this month.

Wind offers triple play with features that include instant channel change, multiple picture-in-picture, personal video recorder (PVR) functionality and video-on-demand. Infostrada TV, using the Motorola 1616T set-top box, provides viewers access to all the main national digital terrestrial channels, as well as a selection of international satellite channels and SKY services.
