CBS SportsLine.com becomes CBSSports.com
CBS SportsLine.com has changed its name to CBSSports.com to tie the site more clearly to the network’s sports broadcasting franchise.
According to Sean McManus, president of CBS Sports and News, the name change indicates “CBS Sports now stands for much more than its broadcasts of major sporting events.”

Narrowstep, MTBcut.tv launch mountain biking Internet TV channel
Narrowstep has announced the launch of a new Internet TV channel dedicated to the world of mountain biking. The new channel, which is now available at http://www.mtbcut.tv, will bring together filmmakers from around the world to deliver mountain bike footage ever.
Using Narrowstep’s Internet TV platform telvOS, MTBcut viewers can watch live coverage of popular events as well as video-on-demand with the click of a button.

Optibase and ZTE form alliance to offer integrated IPTV solutions
Optibase and ZTE have formed a strategic alliance to provide integrated TV-over-IP services. ZTE selected Optibase’s Media Gateway (MGW) platforms to provide advanced MPEG-4/H.264 encoding and streaming solutions as part of its IPTV offering.
ZTE is one of China’s fastest growing telecom equipment suppliers with customers in more than 100 countries worldwide.

Media Excel licenses VP6 codec from On2 Technologies
Media Excel and On2 Technologies have signed a licensing agreement that will allow Media Excel to implement On2’s TrueMotion VP6 digital video encoding solution as an added feature in its DSP-based transcoder acceleration module.
The module is the basis for the HERA appliance family. This added functionality will encode video streams in VP6 for live, real-time broadcasting of Adobe Flash video and offline file transcoding to Flash standard.

DCS turns to Scopus
Romanian cable and DTH operator Digital Cable System (DCS) has selected digital broadcast platforms from Scopus Video Networks to expand its direct-to-home service MAX TV.
The new DCS system is composed of the IVG-7100 Intelligent Video Gateway platforms, IRD-2900 Integrated Receiver Decoders, statistically multiplexed encoder systems and Network Management System software.

Inuk Networks adds games and interactive services to Freewire IPTV
Inuk Networks has partnered with Stockholm-based Accedo Broadband to add a new dedicated games service to Inuk's Freewire IPTV service.
Built on Accedo's Funspot games platform, the new service will initially offer a number of games to users free of charge. This will be supplemented over a number of months with additional games to provide a broad choice of premium interactive content.
