Swisscom chooses TANDBERG Television
Swisscom has selected TANDBERG Television's iPlex UltraCompression IPTV head-end for the next step of its Bluewin IPTV service.

Swisscom and TANDBERG Television commenced their collaboration with the trial of the Bluewin IPTV system in autumn 2004, followed by commercial deployment in November 2006. The iPlex UltraCompression HD and SD system offers a range of advanced video processing features with bandwidth improvements of up to 50 percent.

Top Ad Agencies team with ON Networks
Several leading ad agencies have joined ON Networks’ partner program to test new forms of content-based advertising.

Among the agencies are Carmichael Lynch, TPN, GSD&M’s Idea City, Critical Mass and SicolaMartin. ON’s approach to advertising attaches ads to its shows and allows the ads to travel wherever a show goes to capture the largest share of target markets.

Antenna Technology, Digisoft offer IPTV solution for Tier 2, 3 telcos
Commercial satellite communications systems provider Antenna Technology Communications has teamed up with IPTV solution provider Digisoft to provide a scalable, end-to-end IPTV solution for IP network operators.

The IP solution includes all the pieces needed for an IPTV video headend, including the Simulsat receive multibeam antenna, a satellite subsystem and MPEG-4 advanced compression. Digisoft provides the Application Management Server as well as a flexible and dynamic program guide on a Java Set Top Box.

The end-to-end IPTV solution is targeted at U.S. Tier 2 and Tier 3 telcos.

Motorola attains 2 million IPTV STB milestone
Motorola said Sept. 7 that it has shipped its 2 millionth IPTV set-top box. The milestone was reached five months after the shipment of its millionth box.

The 2 millionth set-top box, a VIP1510, was shipped as part of the provision of 150,000 units to TeliaSonera, Sweden's largest telecommunications company.
