Wegener receives $1.6 million order for IPTV equipment
Conklin-Intracom has placed an order valued at more than $1.6 million with Wegener for its SMD 515 IPTV set-top boxes to support the IPTV offerings of multiple telco operators.

The order includes a combination of the company’s SMD-515 set-tops and remote controls for premium IPTV services, including HD programming, video on demand and integrated personal video recording (PVR).

Tiscali UK to free up bandwidth with new Harmonic MPEG-4 AVC encoders
Triple-play service provider Tiscali UK is expanding and upgrading its IPTV service in the United Kingdom with Harmonic's latest generation DiviCom Electra 5400 SD MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) multichannel encoders.

As part of its rollout of the Tiscali TV service to 10 million homes in cities throughout the United Kingdom, Tiscali is upgrading its encoding platform to enable higher quality video services at lower bit-rates. The IP-based Electra 5400 enables Tiscali to free up bandwidth for HD, high-speed data and other advanced services.

Deutsche Telekom chooses JDSU for service assurance
Deutsche Telekom has selected JDSU to support delivery of its IPTV service with its service assurance test solutions, the test and measurement company said March 12.

JDSU's NetComplete service assurance system and associated IP test probes will be deployed in Deutsche Telekom's network. The NetComplete solution also includes software that enables monitoring of service quality from central network operations centers.

Conexant Systems and Latens announce collaboration
Conexant Systems and Latens are joining forces to increase security and lower costs for satellite, cable and digital terrestrial pay television broadcast network operators.

In support of this effort, Conexant has integrated the Latens BCAS (Broadcast Conditional Access System) security software into its CX2415X family of set-top box (STB) solutions. A reference design based on Conexant and Latens’ solutions is also available, the companies said.

TANDBERG Television receives honor for iPlex UltraCompression
TANDBERG Television was honored March 12 at the IPTV World Forum in London with the Best IPTV Head-end & Video Processing Technology IPTV World Series Award.

Selected by a panel of judges, TANDBERG was recognized for the transcoding capabilities of its iPlex UltraCompression IPTV headend. The system is currently enabling IPTV business models for operators around the world.
