NEC will launch a full-scale IPTV business with high-profile NGN (Next Generation
Networks) carrier applications.
Providing end-to-end IPTV solutions and video delivery systems to communication carriers, NEC will expand this business to the international market. The company will draw on its NGN know-how and experience with broadcasting technology.
The company intends to take several steps to advance its IPTV goals, including:
delivery of end-to-end IPTV solutions using NEC products, from network architecture to delivery servers and household terminals;
release of the NC7500-VD VOD video delivery server in April as the core system for new IPTV solutions; and
adopt CASCADE's QualiTVision middleware, used for IPTV deployments in Hong Kong and Thailand.
