ng Connect Program targets seamless ecosystem for ultra high bandwidth networks

Alcatel-Lucent last week announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona the launch of the ng Connect Program, a global initiative aimed at bringing together devices, content and applications for mobile and fixed ultra high bandwidth networks, including 4G, Long Term Evolution (LTE) and GPON.
The goal of the program is to bring the benefits of a seamless broadband experience to mobile phones, computers, cars and gaming systems so consumers can stream more content and run more sophisticated applications on-the-go.
According to the company, the initial phase of the program has three goals: accelerating deployment of new services and devices through pre-integration and validation; identifying and promoting new revenue streams through innovative business models; and broadening the wireless broadband device landscape to include consumer electronics products, industrial and consumer equipment for machine-to-machine communications, and automotive connectivity.
Several companies — including 4DK, Alcatel-Lucent, Buzznet, chumby, Connect2Media, dimedis, FISHLABS, HP, QNX, Samsung, SIGNEXX, Total Immersion, TuneWiki and Words & Numbers — are supporting the ng Connect Program.
