TANDBERG Television launched its latest telco solution, the iPlex UltraCompression HD and SD IPTV head-end product, last week at the IPTV World Forum in London.

Based on TANDBERG Television's second-generation AVC platform, iPlex delivers bandwidth improvements of up to 50 percent over previously deployed MPEG-4 AVC units.

The product offers an IPTV head-end video processing solution that includes MPEG-2 SD encoding, MPEG-4 AVC HD and SD encoding, MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 transcoding, MPEG-2 transrating, and picture-in-picture (PIP) service generation in a high-density, NEBS-certified, telco-designed chassis.
