Thomson has announced the availability of its SmartVision video services platform for cable operators launching On Demand services.

Already one of the most widely deployed solutions for IPTV according to a recent MRG (Multimedia Research Group) report, Thomson’s SmartVision solution has extended its supported infrastructures to include cable.

Smartvision features scalability and reliability to help cable operators offer an advanced range of interactive services to increase revenue and be on a par with those offered by telecom operators and Internet Service Providers.

The SmartVision video server supports frame-accurate broadcast and on-demand playout of HD, SD and mobile content. It also supports open standards as an advertising insertion server and acts as a scalable network PVR manager.
