ATIS launches Home Networking Forum

Feb 24, 2009 10:18 AM

The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) has created the ATIS Home Networking (HNET) Forum, a single, centralized body responsible for addressing home networking standards.

The forum will holistically assess the variety of ongoing home networking standards development work. It aims to provide a pragmatic solution to the decentralized home networking standards development arena.

The forum’s creation was recommended by ATIS’ Home Networking Assessment & Work Plan, the result of work by ATIS’ CTO-led Technology and Operations Council and its Home Networking Focus Group (FG). The FG included representatives from: ADC, Alcatel Lucent, AT&T, Cisco, Conexant Systems, Corning, Ericsson, Haywire, Hitachi, Intrado, Qwest, Sony, Verizon and Widevine.

Commissioned by the ATIS Board of Directors, the Focus Group assessed issues impacting the development of a cohesive home networking infrastructure to support VoIP, IPTV and other IP-based services.
