Cablevision’s News12 commits to Grass Valley Ignite for five studios

The Grass Valley Ignite system allows one operator to control video, audio, machine, camera and teleprompter functions from a single interface.
Cablevision Systems has upgraded all of its News12 regional news operations in the New York metropolitan area with five new Grass Valley Ignite automated production systems. They are all slated to be fully operational by the end of the year.
Studio operations making the conversion to the Grass Valley Ignite system for their newscasts include News12 Long Island, News12 New Jersey, News12 Bronx/Brooklyn, News12 Connecticut and News12 Westchester/Hudson Valley.
The Grass Valley Ignite system is an integrated live professional broadcast video production system that allows one or two operators to control video, audio, machine, camera and teleprompter functions from a single interface. It also allows all segments of a live newscast to be pre-programmed and previewed prior to a show going on-air.
A user of the ParkerVision integrated production system (predecessor to the Grass Valley Ignite) since 2002, Cablevision’s News12 division serves more than 3 million households with news, sports and entertainment segments and long-form programs, 24/7. News12 Bronx was one of the first beta testers for the original ParkerVision PVTV News24Plus video newsroom system in 2001.
With its ability to streamline operations, reduce technical errors and improve their on-air quality, more than two dozen U.S.-based TV stations have deployed the Grass Valley Ignite system to handle their multiple, daily newscasts. KABC-DT, in Los Angeles, is using an Ignite HD system to produce its local weekend newscasts in HD.
