USTelematics makes mobile IPTV breakthrough
USTelematics has made an engineering breakthrough that will let the company’s Voyager Mobile IPTV product display live TV on the pre-existing DVD and video cassette player video screens in place in about 40 million vehicles on the road in North America, the company said Aug. 6.
The company plans to make the capability available in the third generation of its Voyager product, currently slated for a January 2009 introduction.

CCTV.com selects ArcSoft online media player for Olympics

NTT Communications deploys Juniper Networks core routers
Japan’s NTT Communications has deployed Juniper Networks T1600 core routers to scale the capacity of its global IP network, the largest dedicated Internet backbone network in the world.
Traffic growth driven by increased subscriber demand for IPTV and multiplay services compelled NTT Com to scale the capacity of its global Tier-1 IP backbone network.

Utah IPTV consortium deploys Latens ECOsystem
IPTV Network Services, a consortium company of several IPTV service providers in Utah, has deployed the Latens ECOsystem (ECO) to enable its IPTV offering, the company announced in July.
Latens ECO provides IPTV Networks with a single platform consisting of middleware and Latens’ Conditional Access for the secure delivery of advanced content services.

Tilgin wins order for major European IPTV rollout
Tilgin announced Aug. 6 it has won a major order for its IPTV-technology from an unnamed incumbent South European telecom operator.
The operator will use Tilgin’s HD IPTV technology and management solutions for its major commercial rollout of IPTV in Southern Europe. The value of the initial order is about $1.7 million, the company said.

Chunghwa Telecom extends commitment to Widevine Virtual SmartCard
Chunghwa Telecom in Taipei, Taiwan, has purchased an additional 450,000 Cypher Virtual SmartCard clients from Widevine to accommodate rapid subscriber expansion and in-home network proliferation with existing subscribers.
The continued demand for Chunghwa’s television service has largely been driven by the introduction of existing Hollywood premium content, HD programming and exclusive rights to Olympics coverage, according to Widevine.
