Harmonic shows MPEG-4 encoder at IPTV World

Harmonic, a provider of video compression technology will showcase its latest generation DiviCom Electra 7000 HD MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) encoder this week at the IPTV World Forum in London.

Harmonic said its DiviCom Electra encoders offer high-channel density, which considerably reduces the cost per channel, as well as an all-IP architecture. The encoders are equipped with all the features required for a broadcast environment (e.g. closed caption, teletext) and for IPTV (e.g. PiP, Digital Program Insertion), which facilitates integration into existing broadcast eco-systems (e.g. DVB, ATSC).

The DiviCom Electra 7000 supports up to four full-resolution HD channels and simultaneously low-resolution SD channels for PiP, program guides or multichannel mosaics while producing outstanding video quality at ultra-low bit rates.
