WVVH-TV, Verizon strike accord
FiOS customers in Long Island, the five boroughs of New York City, Westchester County, New Jersey and Rockland can watch WVVH-TV as the result of a deal reached last month between the station and Verizon.

Known by its Hamptons Television name, WVVH-TV offers sports, movies, news, public affairs, lifestyle and children’s programming 24 hours a day.

Amino IPTV set-top box delivers HD World Cup coverage
Dutch Lijbrandt Telecom has selected Amino to supply its set top boxes for the first-ever high definition IPTV service in Northern Europe.

The service was rolled-out in time for World Cup soccer matches, offering viewers greater clarity and detail. By selecting Amino for this deployment, Lijbrandt Telecom BV was able to deploy HD services rapidly. Besides HDTV, the service also offers triple-play functions.

Blue Ridge chooses Everstream for VOD, data collection, reporting
Blue Ridge Communications has deployed Everstream Hosted Services, which offers software for data collection, warehousing, advertising, reporting, and business analytics for the cable and broadband industry.

The deal marks Everstream's continued expansion of its Hosted Services, enabling smaller operators to deploy enterprise data collection and warehousing, as well as audience measurement and iTV usage analytics and reporting.

Optibase IPTV platform powers traffic monitoring in South Korea
Korea Highway Corp. (KHC) has integrated the Optibase MGW 5100 carrier-grade IPTV streaming platform to enable live video monitoring of the country's highways.

KHC has stationed analog video cameras alongside highways to collect traffic information in real-time. The video feeds are delivered over a fiber network to centrally control information for processing and analysis. The MGW 5100 encodes the feeds into both H.264 and Windows Media format for real-time delivery to KHC's Regional Control centers.

Russia’s Central Telegraph looks to Verimatrix for IPTV security
IPTV content protection system developer Verimatrix is working with Russian systems integrator CTI to secure the content of Central Telegraph's IPTV service for Moscow and the Moscow region. The Verimatrix Content Authority System (VCAS), a software-based content protection system, is allowing Central Telegraph to satisfy the security demands of content owners when obtaining rights to early-release movies, popular series and other premium content, such as sports coverage.

ECI Telecom launches GPON solution for high bandwidth services over fiber
ECI Telecom has announced a series of Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) offerings that upgrade ECI's broadband solutions to support fiber-to-the home (FTTH), fiber-to-the premises (FTTP) and fiber-to-the node (FTTN) applications.

These new offerings require a minimal upgrade path while providing maximum OPEX and CAPEX savings to carriers for the delivery of bandwidth-intensive video services like IPTV, HDTV and network-based Personal Video Recorder (nPVR).
