Inuk selects Widevine to secure UK’s first IPTV deployment to PCs

Widevine Technologies announced that UK-based Inuk Networks has chosen its Cypher for the PC to secure delivery of premium broadcast channels and video-on-demand content for its Freewire service — the nation’s first PCTV deployment.

Launched last month, Inuk’s Freewire platform is a virtual set-top box solution that enables Inuk to deliver television to the PC with full PVR capabilities. All on-screen information and controls are displayed within a customizable electronic program guide for viewing on Windows- or Mac-based platforms.

Widevine provides a multiplatform, multiformat downloadable conditional access and digital rights management solution with digital copy protection. This single content security solution can be integrated to support both set-top box and PC platforms.
