Ericsson to acquire Redback Networks
Redback Networks announced Dec. 19 a definitive agreement to be acquired by telecommunications supplier Ericsson for $2.1 billion or $25 dollars per Redback share. The company, which supplies multi-service edge routing for broadband networks, expects the deal to be completed early next year.

Internet TV channel showcases Panamanian, Latin America real estate
Pensamiento Inmobiliario has launched Latin America Real Estate TV, the first TV channel on the Internet that promotes Panama real estate investment and other real estate projects in Latin America.

T-Com IPTV solution delivers Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound
T-Home, the new IPTV service from Deutsche Telekom’s T-Com division, will be broadcast in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, according to Dolby Labs. The set-top box for the service, the Media Receiver X 300T, is also compatible with Dolby Digital Plus.

Hawaiian Telcom selects Alcatel-Lucent
Hawaiian Telcom, the incumbent local exchange carrier (ILEC) in Hawaii, has selected Alcatel-Lucent's Triple Play Service Delivery Architecture as the blueprint for network transformation.
Hawaiian Telcom will deploy Alcatel-Lucent's access and IP routing solutions to replace the existing high-speed Internet infrastructure, and to provide the scalability, reliability and speeds needed to deliver IPTV, advanced and interactive Internet, and premium Ethernet and IP VPN services.
