Siemens selects Harmonic’s Rhozet Carbon Coder for BBC project
Siemens IT Solutions and Services has chosen Harmonic’s Rhozet Carbon Coder video transcoding solution as a technology component for the BBC's Digital Media Initiative (DMI).

As a result of this decision, Harmonic plans to form a global partnership with Siemens to make the technologies available to other broadcasters who are considering tackling a similar technical challenge.

RealPage chooses BitBand as IPTV vendor
RealPage has selected broadband IP video content delivery solution company BitBand as its affiliate vendor for implementing on-demand IPTV services.

RealPage provides products and services to more than 20,000 apartment communities across the United States.

SES AMERICOM certifies Harmonic encoders for IP-PRIME local channels
SES AMERICOM has certified the use of DiviCom Electra 7000 HD MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) encoders and the Ion AVC SD encoders for compression of local channels in the IP-PRIME IPTV distribution platform.

The encoders offer U.S. telcos using the IP-PRIME service a way to add high quality, low bit-rate local broadcast SD and HDTV channels.

Amino completes MPEG Industry Forum logo program
The MPEG Industry Forum (MPEGIF) last week at NAB2008 said Amino has successfully completed the Premium Conformance Tier of the MPEGIF Logo Qualification Program.

Amino's AmiNET130 and AmiNET530 set-top boxes are the first HD H.264 IPTV and HD H.264 DVR STBs to meet the requirements.

Digisoft to provide STB middleware, IPTV platform for Video Ezy
Video Ezy, Australia's largest movie rental franchise, has selected Digisoft's IPTV delivery platform and set-top box middleware to enable the delivery of the Video Ezy Electronic Video Rental service.

The service will roll out in Video Ezy and Blockbuster stores in Australia and New Zealand. The main components include an in-store kiosk with movie library, branded USB or iPOD-type storage system and in-home Java set-top box.
