Mark Aitken, VP Advanced Technology for the Sinclair Broadcast Group, has been named the 2013 recipient of the Bernard J. Lechner Outstanding Contributor Award by the ATSC.
Aitken received the honor May 9 at the ATSC Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The award is presented annually to an ATSC member whose technical and leadership contributions to the committee have been invaluable and exemplary. The award is named for Bernard Lechner, its first recipient.
“Mark has been a consistent advocate for the advancement of terrestrial broadcasting technology,” said Mark Richer, ATSC President. “His passion for the future of our industry has made him a strong leader in ATSC activities including the development of our Mobile Digital TV Standard.”
Among Aitken’s achievements at ATSC was playing a leadership role in the development of the A/153 Mobile DTV standard. He has chaired the specialists group on ATSC Mobile DTV since May 2007.
