Rohde & Schwarz develops system for MediaFLO conformance tests

Rohde & Schwarz has introduced the TU8980 FLO Device Conformance System (FDCS), a conformance test system capable of evaluating mobile handset compliance with QUALCOMM’s MediaFLO mobile media delivery platform. The TU8980 system will enable manufacturers to evaluate their handsets for compliance with the MediaFLO minimum performance specifications published by the TIA as well as any additional performance requirements emphasized by service providers.

Built from a combination of established Rohde & Schwarz test instruments, including the CMU200 Universal Radio Communication Tester and the R&S SFU Broadcast Test System, the TU8980 can test the functionality of MediaFLO technology on handsets, as well as analyze its capability to coexist with existing mobile communication infrastructures. The system emphasizes compatibility testing with services such as E911, A-GPS, Verizon Wireless' 1xEV-DO high-speed data service and Bluetooth communication.
