50th Globecom conference set for Washington, D.C.

The IEEE Communications Society will hold its 50th Global Telecommunications Conference (IEEE GLOBECOM 2007) in Washington, D.C., from November 26 to 30 at the Hilton Washington hotel. The conference focuses on a wide range of communications technologies, including in-depth information on the latest developments in voice, data, image and multimedia.
Dr. Jeong Kim, president of Bell Labs at Alcatel-Lucent, will present the keynote speech to open the conferece, while other session speakers will include Mark Wegleitner, chief technology officer/senior vice president of technology network planning at Verizon Communications, and Matt Bross, CTO at BT Group./p>
This year’s theme, “Innovate, Educate, Accelerate,” will be supported by more than 900 technical presentations, as well as a full slate of tutorials and workshops. Topics for the technical sessions include ad-hoc and sensor networking, communication theory, Internet protocols, optical networks, multimedia communications, signal processing, and wireless communications./p>
Twenty half-day tutorials will focus on spectrum policy, ultra-wide band systems, WiMax, mobile video, next generation wireless and Web security. Other areas of interest to be discussed include optical networking, security and privacy in 4G networks, multisensor data fusion, network management systems, automotive networking, and wireless mesh and sensor networks./p>
The conference will also host the 2nd Annual IEEE Communications Expo, which will showcase manufacturers that support the telecommunications industry. /p>
