AAJ TV selects ENPS as newsroom system

News broadcaster AAJ TV, part of Pakistan's Business Recorder Group, has adopted the Associated Press' Electronic News Production System (ENPS).

Based in Karachi with sites in Lahore and Islamabad, AAJ TV will use the ENPS newsroom system along with a range of other AP services including APTN video, APTN Direct, AP Wires and AP Graphics Bank. The installation is scheduled to go live by September.

Another Pakistani broadcaster Dunya, or World-TV, based in Lahore with remote sites in Karachi and Islamabad, also recently selected ENPS for its newsroom system and is scheduled to begin using the system by the end of the month.

Dunya TV and AAJ TV join three other Pakistani broadcasters, all of which operate in English and Urdu, in using ENPS. Since media deregulation in 2005, there has been a mushrooming of broadcasters in the country. Other broadcasters in the country using ENPS include:

  • Sama'a TV in Karachi and Lahore with bureaus in Peshawar, Quetta and Islamabad
  • News One in Karachi with remote sites in Multan, Islamabad and Lahore
  • CNBC Pakistan with a main site in Karachi and a bureau in Islamabad
