ABC News targets video iPods

ABC News — seeking a younger audience — is targeting a newscast primarily to users of Apple’s video iPod. Unlike other network online news initiatives, ABC is creating 15-minute daily newscasts, featuring anchor Charles Gibson, that can be downloaded from Apple’s iTunes music store.

The World News Webcast airs live at 3 p.m. EST on www.ABCNews.com and the ABC News Now digital channel. Within an hour, it can be downloaded from the iTunes music store.

ABC said in September there were 5.2 million downloads via ABCNews.com and iTunes.
