Adobe adds Vizrt rotoscoping technology to its product line

Vizrt has licensed its Curious gFx software to Adobe Systems. Adobe will now be able to develop and distribute the software among its current and future product lines.

Curious gFx is a raster paint, retouching and rotoscoping software package developed by Vizrt’s Curious Software division. Vizrt acquired Curious Software June 1, 2005. With this technology from Vizrt, Adobe products will now be able to do more using the roto-matte system as well as a variety of features for wire and rig removal or content restoration.

Vizrt will continue to support existing customers of gFX, but the stand-alone product’s future upgrade path will now be determined by Adobe. The company will continue to offer the gFx technology as a licensed option within the Curious World Maps digital map creation software and its authoring and design software such as the Viz|Artist.
