Telecommunications giant Alcatel and European sports broadcaster Eurosport this week announced an agreement to provide sports event video content to mobile phone users.
Eurosport's content will be used by Alcatel in its worldwide network of 3G Reality Centres (3GRC) that integrate Alcatel's end-to-end 2.5G/GPRS and 3G/UMTS solutions together with Alcatel's ecosystem of application and content partners. The 3GRCs will also allow Eurosport to develop a deeper understanding of the new possibilities offered by 3G for enhanced end-user experience.
The Eurosport content will be combined with Alcatel's multimedia applications to provide mobile operators with complete solutions. Alcatel demonstrated how sports video could enhance 3G service with selected Eurosport content at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France this week.
