IBC2008 will tackle stereoscopic 3-D production in a big way with “Masterclass: A production language for 3-D,” Sunday, Sept. 14.
The three-part class will focus on a range of issues involved with stereoscopic 3-D from the perspectives of 3-D producer and consultant Phil Streather, owner of Pablo Post Ralston Humble and independent filmmaker Celine Tricart.
The masterclass will begin with the basics of 3-D, examine issues surrounding shooting straight in 3-D, and conclude with a look at what it takes to post a 3-D project. Streather and Humble will use the Quantel Pablo 4K system as part of the class, and Tricart will show a new mirror rig for shooting straight elements.
The session will cover practical issues, such as how close-ups are best handled in 3-D, and provide attendees with a 3-D lexicon to describe the issues unique to stereographic 3-D production.
