Network Electronics, a Norwegian provider of signal routing and transport systems for broadcasters, has rebranded the company and changed its name to Nevion. The name change is a result of Network’s purchase and assimilation of Oxford, CA-based Video Products Group in 2007.
Nevion CEO Oddbjřrn Bergemsaid said they needed a new name “to do justice to who we are today.”
At NAB (Booth SU10811), Nevion will display its Ventura, Flashlink and VikinX video network interfaces and signal processing products. It will also show new IPTV additions to its Ventura product line as well as its integrated family of network management and control systems.
The Ventura solutions for SONET/SDH now include JPEG2000 visually lossless compression and signal multiplexing. The products support carrier-grade long-distance transport over OC-3c, OC-12c, OC-48c and OC-192c and SDH infrastructures.

In December 2007, Network Electronics signed a definitive agreement to acquire VPG and the deal was completed in early 2008. VPG makes professional video and audio transport systems for local and wide-area networks within the telecommunications industry.
