With an eye on growing the companies and making their products available to a wider global customer base, Wegener and Sencore have signed a non-binding letter of intent regarding the possible acquisition of Wegener by Sencore. The stock-only deal is valued at $6 million.
The acquisition, if completed by the end of the year, would offer a comprehensive portfolio of infrastructure products that facilitate operational efficiencies across multiple content distribution platforms. There’s no word on how branding of products will be affected in the near term.
John Suranyi, CEO of Sencore, said that the combined company would work to develop synergies and efficiencies in product development, marketing, administration, manufacturing, sales and distribution.
Currently both companies target the broadcast, radio, telco, enterprise and cable networks markets with a variety of distribution platforms, including the use of the Internet Protocol (IP) and advanced compression technology.
For more than 50 years Sencore has provided test and measurement products, audio and video processing and video/audio distribution equipment to the broadcast and related industries. Wegener’s product line includes the iPump media server, COMPEL Network Control and Conditional Access platform, and the Unity satellite media receivers for live video broadcasts.
