The master control suite at TV4 Sweden fed by the new Pro-bel Cyngus HD router
UK-based systems integrator ATG Broadcast has competed a major routing system upgrade for TV4 (Sweden's largest independent television channel), by installing a new Pro-bel router to support the facility’s file-based archiving and playout infrastructure. The new router is part of an ongoing technical expansion program to migrate the network to HD production and broadcast.
The new Cygnus HD router is located in TV4’s central machine room and operated from the master control suite, within TV4’s transmission center. One of the first applications of the Cygnus is to process HD feeds from the 2008 UEFA European Football Championship currently being hosted by Austria and Switzerland.
TV4 now has a 3GB/s-compatible routing frame, configured with a 324 x 312 matrix. It includes dual redundant power supplies, dual redundant controllers and four monitoring outputs. ATG also installed several Harris NEO HD-SDI/SD-SDI video routing switchers.
