WMAQ’s coverage will be presented both on-air and online with a dedicated production team.
WMAQ, the NBC O&O in Chicago, has partnered with PrepWire.TV to offer HD coverage of football, basketball and baseball games for Chicago and northwest Indiana high schools. The coverage will be presented both on-air and online.
Four high school games will be covered each week during football, basketball and baseball seasons. Other non-sporting events, such as band and cheerleading activities, will also be featured on the broadcasts. WMAQ will use a dedicated production team to report on the high school events.
Frank Whittaker, VP of news at WMAQ, said the partnership would allow his station to expand its reach and resources to serve individual communities in a way that haven’t been done before. “By not relying on viewer-generated content, we can provide our viewers with timely professional coverage, and it is all shot in HD.”
