Atlas Sound breaks silence on sound masking

Atlas Sound has released a new textbook on sound masking. “Sound Masking Done Right — Simple Solutions for Complex Problems,” by Robert Chanaud, Ph.D., is a complete look at speech privacy and sound masking systems. Often misunderstood, sound masking is the technique of using electronically generated sound to mask private or distracting conversations and annoying background sounds.

The book covers everything from the intent, advantages and principles behind today’s audio privacy to the specific requirements, system designs and potential problems involved in their installation and use. Chanaud has a doctorate in engineering and has worked and taught in the field of acoustics with an emphasis on sound masking technology for more than 50 years.

“Sound Masking Done Right — Simple Solutions for Complex Problems” is available now from the Atlas Sound catalog.
